Post by beetroot »

Browsing internet I noticed a sram pg-1050 cassette 12-32 advertised but only found on an american site as available from 7th July. Does anyone know if this is available in UK?

Quick check on Dotbike....
Thought so, there's an 11-32 at £46-51 or a 12-36 (??) at £50-20, both in PG1050.
No 12-32 but I prefer an 11 anyway with a 48/38/24 triple.
The 11-28 is £50 ish.

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/produ ... .22.1.html

Link seems to suggest a new 12-32 cassette. Presumably designed for use with doubles. 11 cog on 50 or 52 chain ring not really required by mere mortals

Lets hope it is true. It really would be useful to dispense with the 11 tooth on most touring bikes. I found recently that my part worn cassette hadn't worn out the 11 tooth at all, but the the next few cogs up

Depends where you live I suppose. I use the 11 coming down off the Peak District. With the 48 ring it gives the same top gear as a road 53/12 set so it has its uses an hour before pub closing time.

On my old Holdsworth the chain nibbles a bit of the seatstay brazing with an 11 tooth sprocket on the cassette, so I just see it as an extra gear. If I had a 12 tooth outer sprocket I would have to limit the dérailleur to stop it being used.
