Rear Rack for 26" Wheels & Disc Brakes

Postby Wesh-Laurence » 15 Jul 2013, 3:48pm

Please can I have recommendations for a rear rack for my mountain bike which has disc brakes and doesn't have bosses for fitting a rear rack.

I don't want a rack that simply clamps onto the seat post because they don't have enough load carrying capacity.

Best route is to use a Tubus disc adapter set and either p clips for the top or an Ambrosio seat clamp with rack mounts

You can then use whatever rack you like with no need for a disc specific unit. :D
Convention? what's that then?

Or there's the Tubus axle mounting kit.

But if you are using AVID cable discs these can still be problematic as the caliper sticks out quite a long way.

If all else fails it may be worth thinking laterally - if you don't need to carry very much you might find it easier to put a rack on the forks instead.
