XC Endurance races and pit rules?

Postby francis666 » 14 Aug 2013, 3:26pm

Hi,

entering my first XC endurance race in October "Thetford Dusk to Dawn"

Cant seem to get an answer to this quetsion:

I'm entering the sole male class and its a 12 hour 8pm to 8am night ride.
When I pit, can I bring myself and the bike to the pit area ?
What I mean is, is the pit area the same area as I can park the van?
The reason I ask, is I'm hoping to be refuelled by son and girlfiend and perhaps take 15 winks If I needed.

Not trying to win (obviuosly), but a 12 hr slog (probaly in rain and mud) could do with hot coffee, jam sarnies and dry jersey.

I hope this doesnt sound a stupid question and no I dont expect a massage and waterbed!

It's years since I did that race, but back then they had no trouble with riders retiring to their tents/cars for a quick feed and rest.

Try http://www.ccnxsports.co.uk/contact (presumably you have tried to get an answer from the organisers already). They are reasonably local, and may well have had a presence in previous editions.

Thanks guys for your help.

Sent mail to the link provided.

question to the organisers when I first signed up but no reply (must of thought I was daft!)

"Hi,

Can I park my hire van in the pitt area to use as support vehicle (food/bike repairs/shelter) when doing the Dusk Till Dawn as a solo rider.
May sound a little daft, but not done an endurance event like this and want a base for support crew.

Many Thanks"

Going to watch the Gorrick Torq in Your Sleep on the bank holiday Sunday, so should all be a little clearer.
So once again,
Thanks
F

Ah, i think that I misunderstood your original question - apologies.

When I did it the pit area for teams of one was actually in a marquee (where they had the light chargers etc).
