For anyone who uses 590 - 26" tyres.
Went into Decathlon in Coventry today and they are doing 26 * 1 1/2 and 26 * 1 3/8 Michelin world tour tyres for £2.99 each. Presumably other branches will be doing the same.

caveat emptor;
650B tyres should fit onto 584 rims, not 590, and (contrary to the product descriptions of both) neither tyre linked above will fit onto a 650C rim, will it...?
cheers

AFAIK, Michelin World Tour have no Kevlar or Aramid.
You can push a blunt nail through them.

Re: For anyone who uses 590 - 26" tyres.
I've covered many miles on World Tours - both in 27 x 1 1/4" and 26 x 1 3/8" and they are a decent all round tyre and good value for money. They don't have puncture protection but I've experienced very few punctures with them.

It says 590 on the tyre wall though not 584.

Mmmmm wonder how I managed to cycle so many puncture free miles before these substances were put into bike tyres.
You young nippers should realise that people managed well enough without all the modern aids and inventions you're used to.

-in which case it isn't a picture of a 650B tyre....it wouldn't be the first time that a website had the wrong picture, and as noted the blurb says that the tyre fits a 650C rim- an impossibility....
My suggestion is that you check the ISO size as written on the tyre before purchase, just to be sure.

Yes but I saw the tyre in the shop so I know what it says on the sidewall.

Re: For anyone who uses 590 - 26" tyres.
which tyre (s) though?
I'd believe the numbers on the sidewall of course. But tyres can be mislabelled, misdescribed etc at every point before you get them in your hand.
A 650A tyre (26x1-3/8") should fit a 590 rim but a 650B michelin 26 x 1-1/2" tyre like this one for example
http://www.pedalpedlar.co.uk/products/michelin-world-tour-26-x-1-1-2-650b-x-35
or this
http://www.acycles.co.uk/michelin-world-tour-rigid-tyre-650x35b-black-white-sidewalls-2637.html
fit a 584 rim.
I don't think Michelin make a 26 x 1-1/2" tyre that fits a 590 rim, and if they did, they wouldn't describe it as a '650B'.
So you can have a 650x35A tyre that fits a 590 rim but a 650 x 35B tyre fitting a 590 rim is a contradiction in terms; one or other measurement or label is wrong. The British nomenclature of 26 x 1-1/2" also explicitly refers to a tyre that fits a 584 rim, not a 590 rim.
The links that were posted earlier were for a 650B tyre (with the wrong photo) and a 650A tyre (i.e. 26 x 1-3/8",fitting a 590 rim,) which is a bargain.

Hi,
A misdescription farce. The gumwall is pictured as 650A,
described a 650B and detailed as 650C compatible.
Clueless. BTW the tyre has Protek puncture protection.
rgds, sreten.

Go riding Past The General Wolfe up the Foleshill Rd at half past six in the morning after a beer glass has hit the tarmac the night before, and you'll be glad you've got Kevlar.
PS. Protek is not puncture protection. Protek Plus, Protek Max and Protek HD are.

As that pub has been closed for some years now the beer glass scenario you describe is hardly likely is it?
