Suitable mudguards for 26 x1.3 road tyres?

Postby smudge82 » 6 Dec 2013, 4:20pm

Hi All

New to the forum and would like some suggestions/help regarding mudguards.
I have a scott sub 20 2009 with the 26inch wheels. The tyres are only 1.3 wide. I am looking for suitable full length mudguards for these wheel/tyres. On initial research it seems there are guards for 700 wheels which would suit the width required or MTB guards for 26in wheels but are far too wide. I'm caught in between it seems.

these might work for you

they come in widths down to 40mm and look similar to other GB mudguards IIRC

cheers

I've just fitted a pair of SKS commuter guards, and they are great. 42mm width, so a little extra width coverage for 1.3 tyres. They are not 'full length' in that they don't extend down to the bottom bracket, or right over the 3 o'clock position of the rear wheel. However they are much better than the usual guards for 26 inch. A little heavy too, but sturdy enough not to rattle, even on potholes and off road.

I have these fitted to 26 x 1.25" tyres.

They offer them in sizes 26 x 1.0-1.5" in either black or silver.
