Suspension seat post with layback

Post by Ambler »

I'm looking for a suspension post for my Super Galaxy (not a pogo stick type) that will also solve the problem of not being able to get the Brooks saddle far enough back.
Some time ago in a thread ref. ride comfort someone (I think it was Wilhelm) posted one that looked good. A search reveals hundreds of posts so I wonder if anyone can recommend one. I know the good ones are expensive but buy cheap buy twice etc.
Thanks.

Thanks. I wonder if it will cure the layback problem.

Looking at the picture I'd say that Thudbuster has about 20mm layback, so worse than a hockey stick post. Unless the spring sag when sat on the saddle increases the layback - it does move backwards when in motion.

What about buying a VO Grand Cru post (33mm layback) and a sprung Brooks?

Thank you.
That will solve the problem.

Any suggestion re.where to buy the seat post?
A google does not bring up any suppliers I recognise.

Freshtripe are well known http://www.freshtripe.co.uk/Freshtripe/ ... posts.html
I wouldn't buy one from Pedal Pedlar again.

BTW, the setback is quoted as 30.2mm, but I measured mine carefully and got 33m. The fore/aft width of the clamp has a bearing on how realistic the c-c measurement of the setback is. In this case the narrow clamp helps increase effective setback a bit.

Ordered from Freshtripe and arrived quickly. Looks a good piece of kit.
I've fitted it with the seat as far back as it will go, a few short rides it feels better.
