any tips? i can't think of any other way apart from over the showground roundabout and into winthrope, arriving down by the old courage place. but over the showground roundabout isn't going to be pleasant or safe. google earth shows a track from the showground to the petrol station at A17/A1/A46 roundabout, but the track seems to terminate there...does it?

If you go via Winthorpe there's a cyclepath that goes under the Newark Bypass and through a housing estate to emerge near Northgate station (I've not been this way for a while though, since Swinderby café closed). Or you could head south from the showground across the A17 at a roundabout, into Coddington, then along the road that takes you down Beacon Hill into the town.

The A1/A17/A46 roundabout is a bit of a nightmare, so best to avoid it if you can.

That's the one. Goes under the A1 and under the A46.

thanks both. even going going over the showground roundabout is something i wished to avoid, but at least it's easy from there.
