Brian Rourke, Steve Goff, Mercian, Merlin, Diamant, Look

Post by theboab »

Hi,

I was hoping I could get some guidance on valuations for a number of frames my wife was recently left as part of a will.

The Steve Goff and Mercian are both Reynolds 953 stainless steel and look unused allow the Goff could have been resprayed.

The Look is an aluminium frame and has the number 274 followed by team on the down tube. This bike also has the appearance of being unused.

The Rourke, Merlin and Diamant all look well used but in good condition.

Tried to add photos but not able to as file is too large for even one.

Any advise will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Photos will be a big help to those who can make educated guesses, I exclude myself from that number.

Since you've clearly worked out how to upload pics you only need to re-size: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=82556

Alternatively if you already use flickr, photobucket, etc add an to your post and the pic will display on the forum.

The frame number on the Goff will be the date that Steve completed the frame.

the company websites for the steve goff and the mercian will doubtless reveal the original prices on those. then it's a case of knocking off a percentage for resale (if that's what you're looking to do) as they are a certain size and colour etc rather than a free choice as if buying one new.

i wouldn't think that the two others are worth more than £150-200 each if that.

looks like a very nice frame that mercian.

Thanks.

Yeah checked the websites, more info on the Mercian than the Steve Goff. So I called Steve and he told me this one was a one off and a friend of his might be interested. If the Mercian was originally going for £1200 (without forks), do you think £700 to £800 would be fair a price to ask for it?

I'm surprised about the Look though, thought it would be more valuable than £150-£200.

I have actually keep myself a lovely resprayed Dawes reynolds 531 frame. Probably going to upset the purists here though as I am mixing it up with both modern components and old. It has meant a couple of alterations to the frame to accommodate the newer equipment though. These alterations have been done professionally though.

Not sure if they are classic frames but I would be interested to know myself. The two 953 frames are certainly made within the last 9yrs. I think 2009 for the Goff. The Look AL254 was only in production for two yrs from 2000 and from what I have read online a very nice bike. The Diamant also has a lot of fans. The Mercian I know little about other than an approx on the age. I do want to sell though so if you are keen please PM me with an offer.
