If this rack will fit ?

Post by stevew »

Question is, has anyone got one of these?

http://www.axiomgear.com/products/gear/ ... -road-dlx/

I can see it's designed to fit on the skewer of a QR wheel but is there enough meat at the skewer hole to drill it out to clear a 10mm bolt on axle?

If there is, that's great.
If not i will have to source the nut kit as well as the rack and that may be a problem :?

Thanks :)

Even if there is *not* enough "meat" on the original rack-to-axle mounting plate, that plate looks to be:
a) detachable from the main rack, via 2 bolts and b) flat.
So I would imagine that it would be fairly easy to make up a replacement mounting plate
out of some 1.5mm to 2mm thick sheet steel that did provide more "meat" to be able to drill a 10mm axle hole.

I believe that one of the "Tubus" racks is very similar and they also have an extra long Quick Release Skewer onto which the rack attaches.

IW...........Yeah it's always possible to cobble something up as i will have to remove the plates to drill them anyway. Just hoping it would be a simple job

WL..........No QR skewer on my bike !!
