How to get garish stickers off rims

The reason the valves are at the top is that in the first photo,the garish stickers where better at the bottom,aesthetically.
So with the stickers removed I thought I'd leave the valves at the top.
Hope that isn't too bad for the style police

Your not sufficiently carefully with crank angle or pedal angle though... Tut tut

Not sure I'd call it photogenic but it's a long time since I've seen a bike with that much presence. Very nice.

Are you sure you didn't just use "photoshop" to remove the stickers ?

Mind you, must of taken ages to move the pump location if you did

I was once told that tea tree oil is good at getting gungy sticky stuff off left from label removal; but it was in the context of gungy stuff from shop price tickets, some of which seem to cling with far too much gunge/glue. Never tried it (never having had Tea tree oil).

I've always used white spirit (on shop price labels. Some need to have white spirit left on for a bit to "soak" and soften the glue and then some scraping.

With nearby tyres I guess you'd need to be confidant that whatever you use does not affect the tyre strength.

Well it's a few more than that now but that's not it at all.

IMO some bikes are much more "here" then others. Bikes that have presence are hard to ignore. They draw the eye and the mind, speaking a simple invitation softly to the observer, "I'm ready, where are we going?".

That's one such bicycle.

Oh lord! I've just noticed you fit your tyres to match the rims and park so that both wheels are the same - you need help!

Jackie Stewart must need help too, then - he used to insist that the Stewart Grand Prix truck driver jacked up the truck in the paddock and positioned the tyres so that the tyre logos were at the top. Every time. Still, if reohn2 used to build furniture he's bound to be fastidious. I'd love to build furniture. I'd also love to build a bicycle frame but I'm never likely to do that either.

CREPELLO beat me to it about the mudguards, but once you've answered that, next question is, how to we get tyre stickers off? I'm thinking Conti Gatorskins - I actually like the Conti logo, but Gatorskins just look gross...

That was a concern and I did wash the wheels after using the thinner on the rims,though it did evaporate fairly quickly.
I have heard of Tea tree oil being used for al kinds of things,from saddle sores to head lice IIRC,but I've never heard of it being used for removing glue.

They're two rears of 65mm Bluemels (£20 a pair from Spa,thanks to Bikerwaser of this parish for the heads up )a front one on the front would be woefully short.I stole one of the stay brackets of one of the fronts and riveted for the front stays.The extra length both behind and in front of the wheel helps enormously in keeping shins,feet and bike clean and dry.

BTW Longboards,fitted to the blue Vaya in the picture above are also great mudguards IMO.

I've found sticky labels can sometimes be removed using....... sticky tape!
Duct tape is particularly good for removal because of its strength.

I bought a car once which the previous owner had "customised" by spraying the black plastic parts eg door handles and fuel cap white. Twenty minutes of duct tape and they were reverted to their former glory

The GATORSKIN logos are quite big for small tyres I agree but they don't bother me too much(32mm Gators' on one of the tandems)
The only thing I can think of to remove logos would be a permanent marker pen in the right colour.
