I've been using a set of Schwalbe levers for several years (probably 5+) without any problems or breakages, even when fitting/removing Marathons. They're only about £3-5 for a set of 3.

I can recommend these Schwalbe levers as well. Had mine for a few years with no bending or breakages. I find Gatorskins very tight on Mavic X517 rims. These Schwalbe levers cope very well whereas some other skinny black ones have snapped.

Hm. I think I've got three Speedlevers. Looks like I'll be guarding them well

I've seen two guys in our club remove tyres without levers. Can't tell you what the tyre rim combination was though.
