Making turns at traffic lights...

Hi,
New to the forum so here goes...When I want to turn right at traffic lights and there's a 'green arrow' filter to make the turn, I never seem to get the green light when I'm the only vehicle waiting to make the right turn. I normally give up waiting for the light to change and (carefully) cycle throught it. Are these lights only triggered by big metal objects (aka cars) or what? I guess there's some sort of sensor that detects waiting traffic, but fails to 'see' my bike. The lights change without any problem when cars are waiting to make the same turn. Anyone else experience this?

Sometimes find this. The detectors are usually mis-set if this happens, have words with the local council's roads department.
