Has anyone else noticed how poor quality the capital "W" appears on this forum? It's not down to my monitor or graphics card - I've seen it on more than one computer. Perhaps it's time to change the font for this forum - some of the other letters are not brilliant, either.

Here's a screenshot from my computer.
Is this the same?
No it isn't. It's quite a different (and more readable font), looks like Arial. Is there a way I can set up my forum profile to use a different font? Or is it something in my browser setup?
(*goes over to user settings to check*)
[edit] - found something! I've just gone over to Profile/Board Preferences and changed my Board Style from "Prosilver" to "vphpbb3". That seems to have fixed the font, but the appearance of the forum has totally changed, it now looks just like your screen grab. If I stick with this change, I'll have to re-learn all the icons, layout, everything.
So I'd still like someone to investigate what font we're using under "Prosilver". There doesn't seem to be a way of selecting one, not in the User Control Panel.

Here's what it looks like under 'prosilver':

Re: W
Oooh - I'm trying 'prosilver Special Edition' which I'm liking! The doubleyoos are especially attractive!
The phrase 'Special Edition' reminds me of the current trend to market some food items as 'Limited Edition' - how crass is that!? All food must be 'limited edition' in that the purchaser is limited solely to the example that they buy and consume... once eaten, it's gone! Punters are hardly likely to start a hobby as a collector of sandwiches, are they?! Is there no end to the twoddle that advertising/marketing people dream up? I'm with Douglas Adams on that one... his opinion of marketing professionals in general being unprintable, which is a bit ironic.

Re: W
As far as I know the answer depends on a) which fonts you have installed on your computer and b) which fonts are defined in the forum's underlying cascading style sheet (css) code, so it's not straightforward (what computer Q. ever is??)661-Pete wrote:So I'd still like someone to investigate what font we're using under "Prosilver"
You can change your default browser fonts if you want, but again, it depends which browser you favour... here's a link to changing the default font in Chrome, currently the most popular browser.

The forum runs on phpBB so you might get lucky if you google "phpbb" and "which font".

Re: W
Something's happened! The font under ProSilver appears to be the same as before, but the "W" is now fixed - at any rate, it looks a lot clearer. If someone's been tinkering, whatever and whoever, thanks!
