Having to log-in for Forum visits.
Having to log-in for Forum visits.
Each time I log-in to Forum, I tick "remember me" box, so why must I now log-in again and again?

Re: Having to log-in for Forum visits.
The remember me box is offered by the browser rather than the forum isnt it?
All that does is remember your login name and password and complete them for you once you start with the first letter.
As I dont bother logging out, I am still logged in at my next visit, without even ticking the forum's "log me in automatically at each visit" box.

I don't log out but have to log in each time I visit and want to reply. Ticking the box makes no difference.
Re: Having to log-in for Forum visits.
In past I never logged out and when I visited Forum I had no need to log-in.
The problem of having to log-in with each visit only started sometime last week, so perhaps it might just go away.

+1
Same here and it fails to work with my "Last Pass" encoder.
Re: Having to log-in for Forum visits.
I suspect that may be due to cookies on our computers, I do have quite a collection of cookie blockers and wipers but the CTC forum is on all of their "protected" lists.

Yes, cookie and ad blockers will probably be the cause, easy enough to add the site to the exclude list.

If you are using Firefox you can get it working using the technique below. Other browsers will vary.
Go onto the forum login page.
Right-click on the page, but not in a box where you have to enter data.
Select "View Page Info"
When it pops up you will see "Permissions for: http://forum.cyclinguk.org" across the top
Select the "Permissions" tab
Scroll down to "Set Cookies"
Remove the tick from the "Use Default" box, and select the "Allow" option
Close the box
Login, ticking the "Remember Me" box
Once in, close the browser and re-open it, and go to the forum - should not need to log in this time.

I'm a member of another forum and I tick the box and I'm always logged in.
I can tick the box on this forum until I'm blue in the face, but I never remain logged in.
I've raised this problem before, and it's never been resolved. Some folk are fine, and some folk are not ........... including me and the OP.
Dunno why.

Hi,
What software you using caraMac
Its down to permissions of the web page, if your software also allows cookies on trusted pages.
Have you tried undoing permissions / trusted, cleaning cache's and re-allowing the web page

I tried everything.
Never got to the bottom of it......... and then forgot about it.
I always log out now, because it's no point trying to stay logged in.
I'll experiment again, and see if I can get some accurate info.

Well, here's a thing.
It works!
It never used to, so I gave up trying, but it does now.
