Upgrade complete?
Can we have our themes back - this is ridiculously ugly...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Until you zoom the text in a bit and the layout changes and it becomes rather lovely in most browsers :)

No, the upgrade is not complete. There is quite a lot of fiddling to do yet. The old board had a lot of CTC-specific customisations.

No, you can't have the old board themes back. Sorry, they just don't work with the new code. The new theme is actually much better designed, and I think you will probably grow to like it. Especially on mobile devices.

I will NOT like it.
NOT at all.

I couldn't give a toss about mobile devices .......... personally ............ I would like Subsliver2 back again please.
Even when on my iPad and even when on my Samsung Galaxy, I was on Subsilver2.

If I can't, I'll be hating this layout.
Absolutely horrible in the extreme.

OH dear - I really really hate this :(

The fonts are terrible and the whole thing is TOO much in yer face - on a desktop Mac with a large screen at least.

I don't think I can bear to use the forum if it looks like this :(

I hate to moan, so sorry to all who volunteer to provide this forum

:( Kind regards, Paul

Absolutely HORRIBLE.

I don't think I can stand this at all.

Sticking my neck out here ...................... unless it's changed back to what it was, or at least made to look like it was before, I'm outa here.

It looks cheap and nasty.

You and I won't be the only ones  It's too aggressive looking :( It makes everything indistinct

I've got used to changes before, I'm sure I'll get used to these ones too.

Right, had a chat on here with Admin.

Anthony has installed Subsilver2 thank goodness!
I've swapped over to it, and it looks good to me. :D

Phew.
Thank goodness, and normal service will be resumed.

Welcome to the standard phpBB3.1 style/theme, everyone! The look is actually not that different to the previous default style, so I'm surprised at the apparently-hostile reaction.

I'm sorry to hear that some of you don't like it. You will notice that other phpBB-powered forums will be switching to this look over time, if they haven't already.

I have discovered that there is a version of the very-old "SubSilver2" style available for those who want a retro look. You can switch to use this in your User Control Panel > Board preferences > My board style, as you could in phpBB3.0 before.

You will note that this style doesn't yet have any Cycling UK customisations such as the logo and header text fixes. They will follow later.

Can you explain what you mean by "aggressive looking"?

deliquium wrote:It makes everything indistinct

The font does seem to be different, the Forum now uses Trebuchet MS on a PC in preference to Arial or Helvetica. I can remove that if people generally prefer Arial or Helvetica. It depends quite a bit on which browser you use, and whether you're on a Mac or a PC or an iPhone or an Android device - they all render text slightly differently.

It's "in your face" a bit, even with Subsilver2

The spacing between the "slots" of the subjects is wider now, so on the basic theme, the thing is very in your face. Loud maybe? Visually?

Wish I'd taken screenshots before and after.

Now that sub-silver2 has been restored, I am happy enough with it. :D

Just another point.
Indistinct ............... not wishing to answer for deliquiuml, but because the spacing is wider and the font isn't any bigger, there's lots of blank space between the lines making the words indistinct?

This maybe good for mobile devices, but not good for desktop computers and laptops.

Off down the boozer shortly. They have WiFi, and I'll take my Galaxy and my iPad, and see how the forum looks on them.
Stand by for a couple of posts. :D
