New-look forum

Post by tim-b »

Hi
I like it. There is one thing that I miss and that's seeing the day along with the date in the thread topic index and within a thread for each reply
Regards

You still get that on subsilver2 board style, but you would probably lose something else that you like.

If you want to try the other style and see if you like it any better, click on your user name in upper right corner and select 'user control panel' (those using subsilver2 already can just click the 'user control panel' link)

Click on the 'Board Preferences' tab
Click 'Edit global settings.
select an alterantive from 'my board style' dropdown box.
click submit

That's easy, go to your account's Board Preferences page and change the date and time display format.

  1. Click on your username, then "User Control Panel".
  2. Click on the "Board Preferences" tab.
  3. Select a different option for "My date format". If you like you can even type in your own custom format :)

Annoying pop-ups

Post by monxton »

When I do a "Mark All Read" after I've reviewed all the topics I find interesting in a forum, I now get a confirmation pop-up:
Clipboard01.jpg

This didn't happen in the old interface, and it does nothing for me. Can it be eliminated?

Nope, sorry, that's part of phpBB3.1 - it notifies you that the "mark all read" action has been successful.

I really like the Quick-links menu - saves loading an intermediate page to get to Active Topics. Nicely done. Cheers.

Is there any way of making links in posts open in a separate window, rather than taking the whole window to that link?

If you right-click instead of left click, a list will appear and you can open the link in a new tab or new window. If you are using a touch screen, hold your finger/stylus in place a little longer, and when you pick it up, the same kind of list should appear.

... or if you have a wheel mouse (i.e. 3 buttons) just press the wheel as a button and you get a new window (that works in Firefox - can't answer for the awful IE/Edge or Chrome)

Regarding the day/date, I set mine like this:

Code: Select all

l jS F Y, H:i

That gives me the following format:
Image
Proper day, date and time, nicely formatted with the time in 24 hours.

Lovely :)

And if you aren't happy, there's always the Tapatalk platform. You get asked out on dates and all sorts [emoji15]
