I Get Logged Out After Every Action
I Get Logged Out After Every Action
That's it.
I log in, post and if I try a second post it says I must log in first.
I tried to edit a post and I logged in, but just opening the thread counted as my one action and when I tried to edit it said I need to login. It was impossible to do the edit.
I used to get logged out regularly (and annoyingly), but not as often as this.
Nexus 7 running latest version of Android.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Just tried to edit and it said I had to login. Also tried to post a reply and it also said I must log in. Particularly odd as the little banner next to my name said I was online.
Any solutions?
Any solutions?
Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Happened to me this afternoon.
Log in, check another page, make a post, and I'm not logged in any more.
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=105045
This seems to give info, but it's happening again to me.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Just tested it here on thread about Chromebooks and no problem posting or editing.
Ubuntu, Google Chrome.
Simon, are you using Chrome on the Nexus or Tapatalk? I use the latter normally on Android and that seems OK too. Of course it could have been the server up to funny tricks or even, heaven forbid, admins doing something thinking we'd all be out on our bikes at that time, which of course is perfectly correct

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
I am using chrome and a web page.
I tried closing old CTC page and loading a new cycleUK,cycleUK one, as per one of the suggestions in Mick's link. Still the same.
What's odd is that I'm shown as being online in the name box of my posts. Sometimes in the line at the bottom sometimes not.
Might have to try Taptalk, but I'd prefer a fix.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Now on my windows phone all OK. Logged in OK, updated and edited fine.
Trouble is, I do most of my stuff on my tablet.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
I had already tried a full reload which clears the cache.
Nonetheless, just tried a manual clear and still the same.
Thanks for suggestions, but this forum is rapidly becoming unusable for me.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
I've reported your problem so that admin can have a look. He's the most likely to be able to resolve this.
In the meanwhile... It sounds like you are logged in multpile times. Perhaps the system is kicking you off because you have exceeded the permissible number of logins. Try logging out using the 'logout', then log back in. If that doesn't help, try changing the setting on your 'keep me logged in'.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
I've tried logging and out a few times to see if it clears it. No it doesn't.
Tried clearing all cookies. No better.
I can't find the keep me logged in choice. It's not on the login menu.
Must've logged in ten or more times in last ten minutes trying all this stuff. Getting very fed up.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Try the 'remember me' box (unticked?)
I'm sure that admin will have a solution, though.

Please be aware that Anthony is taking a well-deserved holiday at the moment. Please be patient.

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Whoooppppeee.
Using the remember me box worked. Many thanks.
Nonetheless a solution would be useful for others thus afflicted.
One other thing, what is the remember me box for? I already get the username suggested and then populated by my operating system. I don't do this for password.
Thanks again, coming back to test edit this in a moment. (Edit successful.)

Re: I Get Logged Out After Every Action
Your login status is remembered by a "cookie", the standard method used by all websites for this. If your browser has been asked to not save cookies then your login status will not be remembered from one page to the next, and you will keep needing to log in again.
If you close your browser, the login status cookie is deleted automatically, so you will be logged out. This is common practice, and ensures that no-one else can impersonate you if you're using a shared computer (e.g. at a library or internet cafe).
The "remember me" option saves an additional cookie that is used to remember who you are, so that next time you visit the site you will be automatically logged in. This should not be used if you're using a public computer.
If you still have trouble, it may be that for some reason your browser is including an old session ID in the URL (perhaps an old bookmark?): try going to http://forum.cyclinguk.org without any other text in the browser address bar, and continue from there. If that works, re-save the bookmark the remove the old session code from the URL.
