If you want a thread deleted...

Post by Freddie »

Just throw a few unnecessary slurs around (the last deleted thread had a right corker) and you won't have to wait long. One member seems to do this quite frequently, but instead of his posts being deleted/moderated, the thread in its entirety is pulled.

I know we have only a handful of moderators here and I'm not blaming them as it must be a lot of work for so few people, but it seems that certain posters are gaming the system to get threads they disagree with pulled. What punishment they receive for doing this regularly on threads they don't appreciate, I don't know.

I can't be the only one to notice this pattern or to be somewhat irritated by it.

The deletion may have been entirely the mod's initiative, and nothing to do with 'gaming' or a report. I thought the thread was living on borrowed time from the outset.

You arent Fred. Surprised many of that persons slurs survived so long, been going on for years virtually untouched. When he gets a bit of richly deserved payback, the whole thread gets deleted. Makes you wonder?

If anybody is disgruntled about the way the moderation works, then I think that a direct approach to them is the correct way forward. It's not easy to post in support of the moderators in circumstances like this because it invites being called a creep, but they have my vote both for the way it operates and because it needs doing and they do it.

In the end, the choices for anybody who doesn't like it boil down to two.

It is better the travel...than to arrive.

It's good to have crankiness and irritation and wotnot on here. It's not Magnolia. Think if we all agreed how dull it would be. Yeh,I guess something, someone can get a bit OTT,but...

In quieter moments I sometimes think how interesting it would be to meet our tea-folk here. I wonder what they're like, appearance like. I'd like a tent at York rally,at set time,no one introduces themselves but the regular posters here to walk into that tent and walk around. Chat? See who's who? I have vague impression of who's who,but no more. I like to put together bits and bobs from posting here to get a picture of the poster. I'm not sure whether I would ever like to meet them...cos that might spoil the puzzle. Better to let the puzzle remain incompleted, perhaps.

We're a strange bunch. Well,I am. I sometimes can't understand people, then some I find very irritating,or don't like their outlook. Still, gone,I'd find I'd miss 'em. Well, sort of. Mind you...(continues till you go to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

Think how interesting it would be if we all ended up in the common room of that Residential Home!

I've met a few on here. In actual fact, there's a long list, but many of them were End2Enders that I've escorted through. Many folk come on here asking questions, and when answered, they leave us. That's similar with many many End2Enders.

There's not many of us on here just for chat, the fun and the information, and we end up build sort of relationships. You can tell who we all are by our post-counts.

I did not delete the thread in question, but I had a look at it, and out of 13 posts, more than half were insults and name-calling, or responding to the insults and name-calling.

I haven't been on much the last couple of days, and neither have the other mods. In the 15 minutes or so that I was on here yesterday, I wasn't going to spend my time editing that thread.

Ain't that the truth.
So it's another vote from me for the moderators who do a very good job IMHO.
