RoyalAirForce

Post by Mick F »

Why can't I say "Royal Air Force" without the spam filter kicking in?

All I wanted to say was RAF (in full).

It works if you hyphenate it:
Royal-Air-Force

You can say: Royal
You can say: Air
You can say: Force

But not Royal Air Force.

What a coincidence! The spamming scumsuckers would often mention the brand "Air-Force" in their spam posts. Then along comes a normal topic containing "Royal-Air-Force".

Thus my cunning translation, behind the scenes, suddenly causes a problem.

Is it a problem ?

No, Graham, I don't suppose it is.

I was surfing through some early posts of Jan 2007, and found a mention of the RAF with the 'spamsucker' problem.

So I played around and found it was actually worked like that.

We do have a thread http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12086 but it's not written in full!

PS,

Found the thread that had the problem:
http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t ... c&start=75

The trouble is, this thread has been there ages, and it looked so bad, and a bad advert for the poster. I corrected it with hyphens.

Thanks for the work Mick. I did not realise that you were doing retrospective work.

If this situation causes further work then I will remove the "translation".
