I think a saw a triple post (treble post?)

Sometimes it is too fast, something is posted before I can check it, am I doing something wrong?

It seems ok for me this afternoon.
Been sitting in the sunshine with a beer, and now back in the living room and come on the forum.
Maybe the beer lubricates the internet connections?

Edit:
That took less than two seconds. Perfect IMHO.

Edit2:
That was instantaneous.

Deathly slow again just now.
Nothing seems to happen after hitting the submit button.
Trying to resubmit (after anything up to a minute) usually brings up a message saying I've already posted and I then can see it actually has. :?

Yes,
Same happening with me this morning. Reload the page, and it's already been posted.

This is getting ridiculous and tiring.

Seems to be a problem other people are having:

I've tried all the obvious things, and suspect it's something to do with emailing notifications. Perhaps worse on busy threads, or threads with lots of quoted text, which might result in more notifications to send out.

When I get a moment I'll see if I can connect up a debugger and profile a message post or two to see what is using up the time.

In the meantime, I presume there's not much benefit in further complaints on this thread unless somebody experiences something more than irritating delays?

Not unless someone spots a pattern.

I've made another change...

If it's email sending, hopefully that will fix it.

Thank you for the feedback. It's probably not down to email sending holding the forum up, then.

More likely a database table locking issue. I'll investigate further.

I wonder if there are more duplicate posts. I don't mean when somebody gets a bit of hot news and starts a new thread without bothering to check if we are already discussing it, but repeat versions of the same OP.

Currently there are three identical versions of an ad about Carradice rack packs all timed closely together. The originator may be able to say whether that happened automatically or it's a version of New YorK, New York, New York (So good they posted thrice.)

I've certainly reported many more duplicate/triplicate posts in the last few days than I would consider to be usual.

At first it seemed to be multiple duplicates from one poster on one thread, which I assumed was user error. Then I came across a few more, all explained once I spotted this thread.

My Spambuster head is on now.

Just approved a first post, and it took over a minute to go. I could have clicked and clicked and re-clicked, but aware of the double and triple issue, I thought about leaving it to see how long it would take.

Whatever this problem is, it's rather annoying to say the least.

Just put a post up on Technical etc.
I gave up waiting for it to go, so hit Submit again. That was over a minute.

Looked at the section to find two identical posts, so deleted one.
