horizon wrote:The Scottish situation always fascinates me as nearly every criticism that is levelled at the EU applies equally to the UK if you live in Scotland. Quite what the Scots feel about the UK superstate and having to have open borders with lack of control, a common currency and a common army I'm not sure. But if the supporters of brexit really believe what they say about the EU they should at least be consistent and campaign to allow Scotland its freedom from this centralised, dominant, bureaucratic monolith known as the UK.

Note: Brexit is normally spelt with a capital "B" but the forum software has altered my post.

My underline, both a capitalised Brexit and a lower case brexit appear in your own post.

Looking at this post it did occur to me we could move the Brexit brexit discussion to the test section.

That way it gets auto-deleted every so often and the arguments can be repeated ad infinitum.

I think 8rexiteer is a banned word and changes to supporter of brexit on posting, with a lower case b.

supporter of brexit
supporter of Brexit

The problem is you have to write out the forum wording in full - it doesn't appear on your own post when you edit it, even after it's been changed by the software. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that if words are changed, they are changed correctly.

Having said that, on March 29th my complaint might seem trivial.

Interestingly, "remainer" is allowed.

"Rem0aner" is not and reverts to remainer, lower case.

My personal preference would be rather than automate these changes, to bounce the post, or replace with [redacted].

But I am nevertheless very grateful to moderators who keep the place civil.

That'll be it, which can be confirmed by the search engine. A search for "_rexiteers" will return horizon's post on the Brexit thread in the Tea Shop, a search for "supporters" will not.

FWIW Brexit is, I believe, derived from Britain. Suppose I should take the opportunity to add that Britain is a reduced form of Great Britain.

FWIW everyone who has commented on this thread so far, including the OP, has chosen not to capitalise their own username  .

Shall I break the trend then?

Have to say, I'm befuddled by the fuss being made over a capital letter, but perhaps the forum's system for expunging taboo words isn't working too well?

May I suggest this sort of treatment as more apposite? Would be fun, at the very least...
