SMILE

Post by JohnW »

Smilies on the forum...........I have just had a post moderated, and the reason given (in heavy, red lettering) is that I'd put too many smilies in the post - the maximum number of smilies allowed is two.
Has anyone else seen this?
Has anyone else been thus moderated?
Does anyone know why?
Has a proclamation been made that I've missed?
What is the ultimate punishment for transgressing?
What does everyone think about it?

I quote a song :
"When you're smiling,
When you're smiling,
The whole world smiles with you..........."

I don't like glossy emojis.

And I don't think that there's any limit on the authentic character-based emoticons.

OK - valid opinion Jonathan - are you the moderator who has thus moderated?

Your message contains too many smilies. The maximum number of smilies allowed is 2.

I don't like them either, and I find people who use them in huge numbers irritating. But that's just an opinion, and I don't see how anyone could find them offensive to require moderating. :D :D

Smiley rationing. I get mine from a bloke down the market who's happy to sell them to you out of his suitcase so long as you pay in cash and don't ask any questions. .

Hi,
I tried again with another post and deleted two :-)'s Of a poster I was quoting, it works okay now.
I don't intend to post now because I re-read the post and it's obvious that I misUnderstood what they were saying, Maybe this has always been the case and when I quote people they're not using :-)'s.

This must be a new thing.
Go back through the "Clean Jokes" thread and see the number of smilies on some replies.
Four or five in a row.

I tried to quote them, but I can't.

You're a man who knows how to manipulate technology Gaz - well done.
The problem to me is that no-one seems to have told us in advance - am I wrong about that? - has there been a CUK edict about it? I don't object to a limit, not a problem to me, it's just that I didn't know that I was getting it wrong. The heavy red type made me feel like a real criminal - as though I was wanting to shake hands with someone, or laugh within 6-feet of someone I don't live with. I felt like a working class person being put in my place by thatcher.
Anyhow, I've resolved to obey and never use them again.
Are there any CUK rules about what colour I shall have my forthcoming frame painted?
Keep smiling everyone.
