Mobile apps for this forum

Post by drossall »

Has any thought been given to supporting Tapatalk or similar on this forum? I believe it just means (for the forum operator) installing a free plug-in.

I'm experimenting with the iPhone app.

It looks good, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay for it. I access the forum mostly either from my rubbish work PC, or my iPhone. Safari in landscape mode is good enough, I think.

Worth a look, I suppose :)

As far as I understood it the Forum was to have been moved to being looked after by someone else by now, so I haven't done much work here. But it looks quite simple to install, so I'll investigate further.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. The blurb claims it is simple to install, as you say. Let's hope it's true!

How's that?

Unfortunately Tapatalk isn't available for my Nokia E71, so I can't test it. But it seems to have installed OK.

It works :D

Although my first few log-ins failed and I had to go back to the Web browser on my desktop and do a log-in with captcha to reset it.

I'll play a bit and try to report back. Thanks for this.

Is Tapatalk of much benefit?

There's a newer version of the forum plugin out, and I need to decide whether it's worth updating it and supporting this in future.

However, an iPhone is still slower for typing, which accounts for my brief reply earlier.

It's definitely much easier as a way of reading the forum on a phone, owing to the compact and efficient layout.

Whether there are enough others using it to make it worth your trouble, I can't say of course, but thanks for installing it anyway...
