Un-read posts

Post by Mick F »

Sometimes, I'm not able to look at ALL the un-read posts that are highlighted when I log in.

When, later, I wish to carry on from where I left off, the un-read posts are not highlighted, as if I'd already seen them!

Very aggravating!

All I can do, is look at the times/dates of the last post.

Could it something to do with reading some posts when not logged in, then logging in again and finding your all your unread post markers gone ?? i.e. the cookies get confused and lose track.

Ah. It's all done with cookies eh? I thought it'd be done at YOUR end with the login info.

I never read the Forum when NOT logged on. The Forum is bookmarked at the login page with Firefox remembering my Username and password.

The thing is, when I log out of my computer, Firefox quits, of course, and it's programed to delete browsing history and cookies. I hate filling up my computer with "stuff", and regularly spring-clean!

I'll carry out an experiment later today, and get back to you.

Thanks.

Yep. That's what happens.

Read SOME posts, log out, quit Firefox.

Then,

Open Firefox, log in, and lo and behold, ALL posts are read!

Moral: Read ALL the posts before logging out and quitting.

Annoying though, none-the-less.
