Wagner's music is not as bad as it sounds.

You have that backwards-oh. Wagner's music is far worse than it sounds, as it often sounds quite exciting or even stirring .... but for all the wrong reasons! Just ask Mahler. (Well, his geist).

Sir Edward Elgar, a keen cyclist
When he learned that he was to be knighted he cycled from Malvern to Bromsgrove to tell his dad

A locomotive engine was named after him too

Robert Marchand; at least, that's the name I fling at the quack when he tells me I'm not as young as I used to be.

I read the Guardian obituary of Bob Holman again
Gladstone inspired George Lansbury who inspired Holman who inspired me

Lansbury emigrated to Australia in the early 20th century on promises, lies, of prosperity, he managed to get back and campaigned against lies made by organisations selling passages to the colonies. I bet many people were not so lucky and led miserable lives in the Red Continent

All three inspirers were dedicated christians
