Mr Python and his esteemed gang aside  - there is actually a serious side to this question.

I remember that when we visited Mexico, the guide who was showing us around a nature reserve on the east coast, bemoaned the fact that coconut and fan palms were dominating the landscape there and displacing native Mexican plants. He emphasised that neither plant was native to the Americas: the coconut actually originates from South Asia. So it's certainly 'migrated' a great deal - albeit with human help*!

Having said that, I think many Caribbean and Central American economies would be sadly dented if the coconut tree were not present! It must be one of the most useful plants in existence. Even if we Europeans are urged not to consume too much of it because of the cholesterol content....

*Thor Heyerdahl wrote that he transported several hundred coconuts back from Peru to Pacific islands on his Kon-Tiki raft. But I think his efforts were a bit too little, too late...

Back to on-topic and serious stuff - sorry.....

No doubt everyone has seen what that idiot Fayling Grayling has spouted out, about Britain descending into fascism if we abandon Brex**it....
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -far-right

Been looking at the picture in that article, and I note that, behind the even nastier individual fronting the crowd, there are a number of men sporting black berets with badges.

Now - forgive me if I'm wrong here - but doesn't the Public Order Act 1936 prohibit the wearing of uniforms at public demonstrations? Does a beret constitute a uniform, or at least part of one? And is that Act not still in force?

It's obviously nonsense. As brexitears are usually at pains to point out they're neither racists nor fascists so it seems unlikely they'll take to streets smashing stuff up.

I'm going to call his claims: "Project Fear".

Now where have I heard those words uttered before?

Actually I do recall that back in the 60s and 70s, the racists and fascists were more active on the streets whilst Labour were in office. At any rate, I can remember a lot of trouble from the NF and suchlike in my student days.

But that doesn't prove anything. And anyway there are fascists on the streets even now. I'm not saying "Brex**iteer = fascist" - but there are fascists out there...

Brexit: Lord Hattersley says people should get vote on PM's deal

Lord Hattersley, 86, who was due to speak at the People's Vote rally but pulled out due to illness, was replaced by a tub of lard.

Whilst not everyone who voted leave can in any way be called extreme right wing, I very much doubt that anyone of the extreme right voted remain.

Tuesday is unlikely to go the way of remain. At best, it'll probably be inconclusive, waiting for May to make her next move on Friday.

Here's taking back control ;)

https://twitter.com/mikegalsworthy/stat ... 9216176128

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... nd-venture

Summary for those who don't want to go look at Twitter:

The government have awarded a 14 million pound contract to Seaborne Freight, who don't have any actual ships, and never run any cross channel ferry operations. Furthermore, they have done so without competitive tendering under a regulation which allows this in matters of extreme urgency. The urgent situation listed was apprently 'unforseen circumstances'.

Joanna Cherry MP is asking why a no deal Brexit is 'unforseen circumstances' when they have been planning for it for 2 years. And what 'unforseen circumstances' justify the awarding of this contract. It seems like a sketch from Yes Minister.
