Not for the first time, I'll note that the people keenest to take everything back in house seem to be the most dissatisfied with our institutions eg judiciary = enemies of the people.

Mick F wrote:Any road up, the thread you are referring to is in Sin Bin because someone said that it was illegal to publish who you voted for before the results are announced.

Absolute tommy rot and daft, and when the thread is re-instated after the results tomorrow, we can see who else voted and which way. I can understand someone famous or someone with influence, but this is a cycling forum and an informal chat-room, not some august political publication.

Doesn't matter. This is a wonderful UK law not required by the EU that makes it illegal to publish a poll of how people voted before all polling stations have closed. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/2/section/66A

The Netherlands have no such law, hence why they have published exit polls suggesting their pro-EU Socialists (led by EC President candidate Timmermans) have beaten their fearful far right (Wilders and co) into third, with their pro-EU centre-right party (led by Anglophile Rutte) in second, despite a really nasty far-right campaign lampooning Timmermans as "Brusselmans". It seems our Dutch friends prefer the idea of electing an international leader to that of trying to hide away behind a political buffoon seen as a bad joke abroad!

Sure. That's all completely consistent with spending hours online broadcasting your antipathy for the EU.

Convenient, being able to just ascribe blame to someone else.

Avoids addressing the difficult questions.

Like why it's been such a disaster.

Still, continue voting for charlatans offering simple solutions. You'll have the certain satisfaction of feeling good about finding a scapegoat when the inevitable failure follows.

That being the case, why are Remainers so quick to lay blame where it suits them?

The Remainers lost the vote.
Hopefully, that's the end of the argument, but I don't think it will ever be.

The Remainers thought that everyone wanted to remain and were shocked that they were wrong.
If people remember, it was a shock result!

No shock to me. I was confident that there were more Leave voters than Remain voters.
Whether the population as a whole agrees with the result is besides the point. They should have all voted, so we would know how the population feels.

Chatting at a local pub this afternoon to a male friend, he was telling us how his wife had broken her ankle recently. She managed to get out of hospital late on Thursday evening and made it to the polling station but couldn't get in properly, so they came out with a polling card to her in her wheelchair (with leg sticking out) and covered her up so no-one could see her voting slip and how she voted.

The thing is, I know how he voted and I know how she voted.

It's not a bloody football match - you lost we won. It has much more serious consequences than that though I don't think you realise that given your inability to put forward any logical or reasoned case for leaving.

That’s a shame when there is #Deniedmyvote and yet polling stations break the rules for a lady in a wheelchair.
There are strict rules to ensure that voting is properly carried out and that the secrecy and security of the ballot are maintained. For example, under no circumstances may a ballot paper be taken out of a polling station during the poll and assisted voting is only allowed in limited circumstances.

Nail,head,on!
I get tired of this won you lost get over it routine,we've all bloodywell lost,if the anyone, that's anyone, can't see that they need their head examining, the country's going down the pan and is a worldwide laughing stock!
Thank's to the Tory party's incompetence and the lies peddled by the brexit camp who convinced the unsuspecting of the unbelievable.
If I'm wrong and brexit is a sucess for the UK I'll be the first to admit it but the way the country is sliding into the abyss I very much doubt it,and I'll never let the brexit voters forget what they've done to the country.
Right now I can't even stomach anyone who lends their support to the Tory party for what they've done and caused since 2010!

Bloody right it won't be the end of the argument. That's democracy for you.

We know that the Brexit vote was based on a pack of lies. No-one will succeed in turning lies into policy. The argument will rage on until the truth is confronted. Brexit will destroy everything in its path, including the next PM if he/she is dishonest enough to try to continue with it.

It must be obvious by now that those arguing the remain case are not going to give in to the simple-minded leave arguments. Not one leave argument, not a single one, has stood up to any kind of questioning.

You won, get over it. That simple enough for you?

These I presume are the same charlatans that have blocked brexit which should make you happy. Remainers use the ultimate scapegoat of fear and failure which hasn't materialised except in their own imaginations, (remember the doom merchants 3 years ago just after the vote). Pro EU dogma is really just marxist conflict theory, all a bit repetitive and negative.

Yeah, doom merchants predicting a big stock market fall and a big percentage wiped off sterling. That didn't happen, did it? Oh, wait...

Pretty sure marxists are pro Leave. Don't you enjoy being on their side?

Like I said the doom merchants are still dooming away there. I should clarify what I mean by marxist, not your traditional type which are really in the hens teeth category, I mean the new liberal marxist/new warped labour/dying tory which is now your common or garden type.

That makes it brilliantly clear. Thanks!
