Trump is a protectionist nationalist.

Why on earth do you think he'll give us some sort of preferential trade deal? The opposite is the - he sees a desperate country and wants to take advantage.

Apparently The Senate won't vote to impeach him, so that won't happen. And, it's thought he will be re elected for a second term. If Brexit succeeds he will give us a decent deal on the basis that he intensely dislikes the EU. Trumponomics!

And yet the Senate just might  although he would surely resign first.

As for intense dislike, the feeling's mutual!

You're not wrong. He'll give us a decent trade deal - for the US that is. However there is the fly in the ointment of Johnson's manifesto commitment to implement the digital services tax. "From April 2020, the government will introduce a new 2% tax on the revenues of search engines, social media platforms and online marketplaces which derive value from UK users." These companies are largely US based and owned so it may well scupper any free trade deal with the US. Trump has started a trade war with France over their version of the tax.

The "enemy of my enemy" nonsense doesn't work for Trump.
He's a businessman that's spent all his life making deals by shafting people.

No way on earth we'll get a better deal because he doesn't like the EU.
He calls people "friends" in order to appeal to their gullible nature - and then shafts them before they know what happened.

Trump may not be the great deal-maker he thinks he is, but he can recognise when he is dealing with somebody with a poor hand well enough to put the boot in.

It's the rich what gets the pleasure

People sometimes speak of the idea of keep having referenda until you get he result you want.

Is that a bit like May and Johnson keep having elections until they get the result they want?

Exactly that, though I'm not entirely sure what it is they want. Maybe we'll find out after next year's election.

You faith is so sweet. Trump won't do a friend a favour. He'll do what his puppet masterrs demand. Largely, they are the same as Johnson's.

UK Diplomat resigns.
Just in case anyone overlooked it.

What she had to say in her letter is pretty much what so many on here have said.
And interesting because of her position.

"Get Brexit done" is a lie.
A meaningless simplistic slogan of narrow vested interest.

US deals aren't the personal property of the President. He has to get any deal approved, so his views of Johnson and the EU will be largely irrelevant. Even if he wanted to do the UK a favour, he may not be able to.
