In reality though no kids were too thick for there.
Back then three little towns in a row Stamford looked down on Bourne and Bourne looked down on Spalding. I'd guess Spalding looked down on Wisbech.
I'm actually just about to go to Spalding.

I cannot remember us boys ever having any particular opinion about neighbouring schools (beyond those in the town).
Perhaps because in those days being driven to school was very rare. The school bus went to the appropriate, nearest.
The "school run" was unknown. Being driven to Bourne from Spalding for school would have struck us as very strange.
Perhaps you are rather younger than me.

We had kids coming from Cottesmore and Great Casterton to Bourne in the sixties as well as nearer places like Deeping, Rippingale, Aslackby etc. Usually came on buses though. Middle class children would go to school in Stamford and Oakham.
We tended to have opinions about other schools because we played games against many in neighbouring towns. Not all schools did this and from you've said presumably Spalding didn't.

Has this latest YouGov poll been flagged up?

https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/ar ... y-destroye

I posted previously that the Conservative party had a new leader (Nigel Farage). I wasn't far wrong.

A truly shocking survey that shows how Brexit has become more of a religion or cult than a policy.

We *must* submit to it, regardless of consequence or harm caused.

I don't think it's shocking in the slightest.
It's what I would have expected. The tory party have been pulling themselves apart for years. This is why Cameron called the referendum .......... to unite his party. He was shocked that it didn't. I wasn't at all.

Remember, when the results of the referendum were announced, many people were shocked.
I wasn't shocked. The result was as I expected. I'd have been shocked if the result was remain and I'd have been shocked if the YouGov poll said anything different to what it has.

Shocking to you and countless others, but not shocking to me and countless others either I'd wager.

'Party members are also willing to sacrifice another fundamental tenant of Conservative belief in order to bring about Brexit: unionism.* Asked whether they would rather avert Brexit if it would lead to Scotland or Northern Ireland breaking away from the UK, respectively 63% and 59% of party members would be willing to pay for Brexit with the breakup of the United Kingdom'

I can offer some support to the Conservative party members that wish this. There are those of us from Scotland that really have had enough and our family from the Borders that have always voted for retention of the Union, no more, this poll has for me and the majority of my family meant we will no longer support the Union and will vote accordingly

The country of Newton, Darwin, Hawkins, Haley, Fleming etc

I've asked before, why aren't officers from Special Branch smashing down the doors of these dangerous nutters? Do they really think a handful of anti-fracking protesters present more of a threat to the country - its stability, security and financial well-being - than the current Tory Party?

I think Roubaix meant "shocking" in the sense that to see folk turning the EU into a hated enemy is shocking.
For little else makes sense.
And has little basis in any factual analysis.

The EU are the "others" in your book and you want nothing to do with them.
In my view it is shortsighted and closed minded in the extreme.

And there may well be seismic shocks around the corner that even you in secure pensioner paradise Cornwall will feel.

from the poll-
Approaching half (46%) of Conservative members would be happy to see Nigel Farage, a man who would otherwise be considered their most dangerous political foe, take over the reins of their party.

Thats a good reason that the one man-one vote notion should be replaced by a sanity test?
we live in interesting times.

Where did you get that idea from?

I've said many many times on here that I'm happy with the EU, but not UK being in it. Work with it, be friendly with it, trade with it, travel to it, all fine by me.

Just not IN it.

Buy Hey! Would care if Brexit was reversed?
Not much.
I'd care that the result of the referendum wasn't upheld like we were promised. That would be a betrayal.

I wonder how much of this is due to the radicalisation of existing Tories and how much is due to entryism. I've read that, since the Brexit Party has no membership, the Conservative Party has no mechanism for excluding its supporters.

I am a bit vague about what was promised. Parliament and the govt have certainly respected the referendum result even if it never happens as there is no consenus how to deliver it? They have tried very hard to find a workable soln? but failed

But polls are still even now presented as facts
