** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
GE results on Leave/Remain parties:
CON = 43.6%
BRX = 2.0%
Total = 45.6% LEAVE
LAB = 32.1%
LD = 11.5%
SNP = 3.9%
GRN = 2.7%
Total = 50.2% REMAIN
It's unknown how many Leavers voted LAB but the number is considerable less than the officially estimated 18% of CON voters who said to be Remainers.
This GE result has proven the UK is Pro-EU, and it is now appropriate to follow this though with a conformationally referendum to clarify this fact.
To leave the EU now we have this clear evidence so well clarified would be a violation of democracy.

Not sure what all that means.
Labour has never been remain, but they have always been pro staying in the single market (or very close to it).
They planned to come up with a deal (which in theory if you were staying in the single market should be somewhat easier) and then get folk to vote on whether they want it.
BoJo's plan on the other hand is simply to tell you how it's going to be.
Given he's demonstrated he'll fire anyone who doesn't agree then like it or lump it you're going to get what you're given - who in the conservatives will stand up to him?
He even called an election to prevent parliamentary scrutiny of his plan or any chance of changes despite it having passed its second reading.
So it seems folk voted to be told what they were going to get and so I guess that's democracy...
It is Christmas though and there's a lot of turkeys to pluck.

Nice picture of Jo Swinson or Chuka Umunna or Laura Pidcock or Anna Soubry. It's really hard to tell after those Jerkies all had their political heads lopped off early for Christmas.
Good Riddance to them all!

Is it time to wrap this thread up? We’re going to leave the EU. Can we move on?

Oh I think there's a great deal more life in the Brexit Dog yet. Suggest you put it on your ignore list
Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
This thread looks like it's been given at least another 10 years of life thanks to BoJo's "let's get brexit done".
And I think 10 years is optimistic.
OTOH I suspect folk will get bored of the latest trade talks fairly quickly, although I'd prepare for "here's what the EU have got, here's what we managed".

It may become interesting as the betrayals emerge.
First on the list is the extension mid 2020, which is a near certainty.
Next, the capitulation over fishing rights.
Then, the capitulation over regulation (or the collapse of several industries).
Alongside, the ever rising non-EU immigration (where do people think those nurses will come from?).
Johnson is exceptionally good at avoiding responsibility for his failures (see border in the Irish Sea); we'll see just how good over the next few years.
Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
There's going to be many millions of people sorely disappointed.
I gave up worrying about Brexit. I'd rather have have Labour in and not the Horrible Tories at all.
I'd forego Brexit just for that.

Yep, the family silver will be pawned I think, just to fulfil a slogan. And there won't be a damn thing anyone can do. Gobble gobble gobble.

Naive thinking there is any family silver left.
