Hi, Houghton Weavers! Gentle wit and candour. Their "Room in the sky" track is very moving, a comment on high rise living.
"The Martians have landed in Wigan" is quite funny. Owd a thought it? MM

Neil Young in full flow... live & noisey. (see here)
Conicidentaly, had an evening of Pentagle (& June Tabor) last night - fabulous songs and guitar playing, nicely recorded too. I can recommend Pentangling, highlighting not just the band but John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, too. Plain to see where Jimmy Page got his licks from... some of them note for note.

One of the outstanding musical memories I have is from March 1975.
Listening to June Tabor sing Eric Bogle's "And the band played Waltzing Matilda" unaccompanied on the John Peel show.
To me it's still the defining version, although the Pogues did it proud too.

As lots of you may know by now I'm severely deaf and can't listen to music much at all, as I can't differentiate instruments, vocalists etc.
However, just this afternoon I watched a short youtube video of Diana Krall singing 'Fly me to the moon".
I was delighted to actually enjoy her clear voice and piano playing, as well as her small backing jazz group.
What a treat!

I'd not heard June Tabor's version before, thank you.
A thought provoking song especially with Remembrance Sunday being tomorrow.
An Eric Bogle live performance of it.

I like pretty well any style of music (maybe except Jazz),. Maybe my age or era or something but a bit of shredded guitar ... can still be fun (and whilst I'd expect 99% of people to cringe, for me it works on a classical piece)

Excellent.

Good job I never started playing the guitar, I'd probably need to give up now...

Psamathe. Thanks for that.
She is astonishing.

If you like "shredded" you might like this (shredded at the end). A golden oldie but treated with some true reverence I think.

A 'slightly' different take on the same song.
