but is it CYCLING? they didnt turn the pedals more than a dozen times in the whole run

People have always pushed limits. My main concern would be that the locals support the event - and get some positive (financial) support from it. (Unlike the Formula E event in Battersea Park, for example.)

Doing dangerous stunts of any description takes guts and skill. A friend of ours is a sky diver, and he takes risks each and every time he jumps. Good luck to him. I wouldn't do it, even if I had the chance. I'd be more impressed if he could get back in after jumping out!
