I very nearly left my iPhone in my overalls as I put them in the washing machine.
I very nearly did.

Realised just in time.

Mrs Mick F has an iPod Nano somewhere.
She hasn't used it for years.

Did I not hear on the radio the other day that the days of iPods are numbered?
People listen to music on their phones these days?

I'd be lost without my NANO... don't have a smart phone ....

No prises for what I did this morning.

The secondhand iPhone5c in my overalls in the washing machine in my overalls pocket.
Not long ago, I fitted a brand new battery.
Sim is now in a spare (non-smart) phone so I'm not incommunicado now.

It's drying out, and stripped down (I have the tools) sitting on the top of the plate-rack above the kitchen range. Seems to be nice and dry, but it still won't switch on after reassembly. I'll leave it overnight stripped down again, and if it doesn't work by breakfast time, I'm off into Plymouth to buy another secondhand iPhone5C.

Meanwhile, I have some spare parts and a good new battery.

Yep.
Muppet Prize.
Now I've done it twice, maybe I will only do it once more?

It's only a phone.
I always make sure that everything is always backed up. This includes address books, photographs, telephone numbers, addresses, documents, bike ride GPX tracks, computer apps, bank account details ............. the list is endless about stuff saved.

It's all on separate hard drives and different computers as well. I'm good at this ..................... but not good at keeping a mobile phone out of a washing machine.

Sorry 5S on for IOS 12...................the "SE" as its known by is the best of the 5 series simply called SE, 5C won't get you ios12.
But you will pay for it £160 for a best graded with 12 month warranty.

This is where I'll be heading today.
Unlocked would be best, and I don't care about the colour or the condition so long as the screen is fine.

Phone is nice and bone dry this morning, but refuses to switch on. Connecting up to the charger doesn't give the reassuring bong either.

Dead as a dead thing.

Could be wet inside, probably is, leaving it overnight is not enough, I would leave it a week or more in a moderately warm place

You could try putting it in a bag of rice. The rice absorbs water, and will 'attract' the water from inside the phone.

It probably won't help, but I would try that before getting another.

Dry as a bone.
Won't switch on and no Bong when it is connected to the charger.
Dead as a dead thing.
Absolutely dead.
I won't give up hope, but if I was going to bet on this, I'd say it's very very very very long odds that'll it'll come back from the dead.

Went into Plymouth this morning via Park and Ride and went round to CEX, and paid £100 for a secondhand iPhone5C .......... 5Gb .... or whatever. Guaranteed for two years, providing I don't put it in the washing machine of course.
