I've a few, mostly noises caused by a lack of consideration. My neighbours whistle for their cat last thing at night, which can be in the early hours. It sounds exactly like the whistling on the current Macdonalds ad. Now, if I were paranoid....

I'm frightened, rather than annoyed, by the noise of a car decelerating on my offside as I approach the junction with a side road to my nearside.

Many, many years ago, when daughter 1 was in a child seat on the back of Mick F's bike, and I was following behind, scared of the traffic, the gutters, my bike and Mick F in front of me with daughter 1 in a child seat, she would call to me, " Hurry up Mummy, we're leaving you behind!".........Now that was very annoying!!!!! :?

believe it or not its the door bell.!...
I suppose I have spent so many years awaiting a knock on the door from the baliffs or HMCE that I have had to disconnect the bell last year because it gave me such a jolt when it rang

Blame Darwin. It's an evolution thing; if we grown-ups didn't find crying such a attention-grabbing noise, we'd ignore babies, and there wouldn't be a next generation. Or, the babies that are more likely to survive into adulthood are the ones that can make the most annoying noise, so the gene for crying has an evolutionary advantage (when taken over hundreds of generations).

I know all that, believe me! We've had six of them, 2 singles and 2 sets of twins, and babies crying in unison is quite alarming!

We've read of various naval adventures on here and more recently repeated lejog-ing. Now a grand tour is announced.

Being 'the girl I left behind me' must have been a regular experience for you?

No, that is the most beautiful sound (I am an uncle)

The worst sounds are the bloody jingles on the radio
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120

Those high powered hand driers in supermarkets or motorway service stations that sound louder than a fighter jet taking off.
