It takes place the day after tomorrow, after that energy use will fall.. summer time, bright and warm

Surely it should be held at the other end of summer time when energy use rises

Earth hour has been going for years and it hasn't had much effect.

Prince Charles and Al Gore still have huge carbon footprints.

The Guardian waffles on about saving the planet but still runs motoring and travel sections aimed at its affluent, educated readers who claim to care about the environment but who don't care enough to do anything about it.

As you only read the Guardian, you obviously aren't aware that other papers, such as The Daily Mail, publish articles about traffic pollution alongside the regular travel and motoring features. Yes, really! Even conservatives can be hypocrites.

Still being held, this year on 24. March :(

Are the lights formally switched on after, like in Blackpool?

Don't worry. The lights may be off involuntarily if mad May's team fail to negotiate a deal with the French, German, Japanese, American, Chinese... owners of our electricity conversion plants!

The tokenism of earth hour ['do almost nothing, and talk about it'] really makes me mad (angry)

Probably 'useless' even to bump this thread.

Maybe there'll be none of us left on 28.3.2021. So the thread won't get 'bumped' any more...
