When BR was privatised, rolling stock was separated from operation of trains- something that was never the case before nationalisation (basically because it is insane to separate the two).

If what you describe isn't incompetence then what is?

Politican incompetence rather than mechanical, I suppose I meant.

Both are true? :?

Experts think muzak in food stores provokes guests into buying more

My poll on these fora shewed otherwise, Most Cyclists Dislike Muzak, I hate it
Went to the 'super' market last week, got home and found I had not bought one of the things on my list because I just wanted to get out

Are both right, or both wrong?

A bat was caught by an eagle
"You may not eat me, for like you, I am a bird!" it bleated
"So you are!", gasped the eagle, and let it go
..
Later a rat caught the bat
"You may not eat me, for like you, I am a rodent!" it squealed
"So you are!" breathed the rat, and let it go

Both are true (or false?)

Should a conductor use a baton to direct an orchestra?

Ton Koopman: no, it is like using a stick to threaten violence!

Simone Young: yes, it is like dining, one may eat with ones fingers, but I prefer to use knife and fork
..

One should not start a car engine until ready to move off
On cold days it may be necessary to idle the engine awhile to get a bit of heat to clear the windows

Hi,
Have you ever noticed the sort of person who gets in the car starts the engine and he's flat out in first within 10 seconds.
One of my neighbours used to do this every morning, within two years his vehicle was sounding rather rattle-ly .
One of my other neighbours has been doing the same thing to very newish vehicle.
Good now sounds a bit like like my 30 year old camper engine ha ha.
The differences my camper engine is always rattled at least the last 20 years anyway.

On car driving.
My partner is the last one to leave the car park in the evening, her mate is always first.
The other day her mate drove into a pedestrian.
Now my partner says she's not always the first one out of the car park
She did not report the accident to her insurance or the police.
Apparently she offered to take Pedestrian to the hospital which was basically 200 yards away.
The pedestrian declined so she gave them a lift home and spoke to the person's parents.
Sounds like she was in more shock than the pedestrian.
She took the next three days off work to get a quote to repair her car.

Get "City of Truro" out of the museum? Those old 'Bulldogs' could climb anything - as well as being a 'runner' on the flat.

Didcot - Southampton, over the 'Gold Coast': I Know, cos' I was there: I lived in Compton.

Ah yes, very happy days.
