Star Wars DVD for the kids

Post by belgiangoth »

My son is now old enough for Star Wars; I know there were a number of re-edits of the original trilogy, can someone tell me which edition is the original, untampered version? Ta

These are not the DVD's you are looking for  .

Actually I think they are. "Limited Edition" two disc sets, one being the original theatrical release (digitally remastered), the other disc being the later "special edition" with additional inserted/altered scenes.

I take it you're after the "Han shot first" version? :?

Worst example of cinematic butchery since the camera was invented....

I think I've got it on VHS - don't know if it's available on DVD etc.

Indeed, Han Solo shooting first is important, but I also don't like cgi vomited all over a 1970s film.

the best luck i've had is on torrent sites, which i won't apologise for having purchased the box sets on various formats, in various editions.

failing that the earliest i have is the 1999 box set on VHS

The closest (modern) thing to the original 1970s version is the unofficial Despecialized [sic] Edition.

AFAIK the closest official DVD version is the one in Gaz's post.
