To be honest, as someone who has never voted other than Labour, if I vote in our flip-flop Labour/Con constituency I am unlikely to vote Labour this time. I may vote Tory for the first time in my life. I don't see Corbyn as competent to lead anything, and certainly not a country. The Tories are uncomfortably far to the right of what I feel comfortable with, but Corbyn feels like the union-centred lefty Labour I never warmed to. He has lost my support. I gritted my teeth and voted for the wrong Milliband last time, but I have a limit and they have gone beyond it.

And you think May and the Tories are fit to run the county?

That's the point. We simply don't know what kind of PM Corbyn would be, but we do know what kind of Home Secretary May was, and what kind of PM she is. And if, after all that, you still have confidence in her, I reckon no amount of arguing is going to change your mind.

May is not my flavour of politician, but she does seem to me to be basically careful, pragmatic and determined. And although I don't think she will do as much for ordinary folk as a good Labour PM, I think she at least wants ordinary people to feel better off. I'm not convinced she has the policies necessary to bring that about, but I'd sooner take my chances with her than Corbyn.

But you are voting for a party not a President?
There are many good folks on the left that want to help the less able and have an alternative vision for our country.

I would vote anything but for the present Govt. because they have a very poor record in almost every sphere.
Their austerity pledges and how it would all come good when they first got in now look laughable. They have lined their own pockets at the expense of the majority.
Badly run NHS and low investment in infrastucture too.
They are only interested in maximizing the profits of big business and the corrupt and selfish finance industry.
I don't think or see that they have any interest in "ordinary" people at all. Not a jot.
But they are good at media manipulation and have powerful forces behind them.

"Careful, pragmatic, determined".- Said The Daily Mail.

I say:-
Untrustworthy, a Tory in every way. Lousy track record.
Everything for the party and it's members and hangers on.
No social concience whatsoever.
Nothing but a few dregs for the poor and needy.
No empathy whatsoever.
Unable to compromise.
Money and power are the only things they are interested in. All IMHO.

This tells you all you need to know about May.
At the Conservative Party Conference in October 2011, while arguing that the Human Rights Act needed to be amended, May gave the example of a foreign national who the Courts ruled was allowed to remain in the UK, "because – and I am not making this up – he had a pet cat". In response, the Royal Courts of Justice issued a statement, denying that this was the reason for the tribunal's decision in that case, and stating that the real reason was that he was in a genuine relationship with a British partner, and owning a pet cat was simply one of many pieces of evidence given to show that the relationship was "genuine". The Home Office had failed to apply its own rules for dealing with unmarried partners of people settled in the UK.[87] Amnesty International said May's comments only fuelled "myths and misconceptions" about the Human Rights Act and Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke subsequently called May's comments "laughable and childlike."

"..because – and I am not making this up – he had a pet cat".

She was making it up, but of course her audience don't care about that, because she is telling them what they want to hear.

The Tories love smoke and mirrors, bending the truth and or telling outright lies in the process.
It's in their nature.
Speaking of cats,Leopards don't change there spots.

This government and Theresa May fail on so many levels as to be incredible in that failure.

I have no confidence in the Tories or May because of their performance past and present, and have no reason to believe that will change in the future.

I thoroughly respect the views and political leanings of both of you, and as a person I think Jeremy is okay. But as a potential leader of the UK, for me, he is a non-starter. I suppose we just see him though different specs.

I should add that at this point in our history the question of who will be PM is particularly important so I am voting almost as if for a president. In more normal times I have a look at our local candidates.

So a PM who hates our democracy enough to appear on front pages calling Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition "saboteurs" to "crush" is someone you're OK to vote for?

Just apropos of various contributions on the thread. It may just be me, but contributions starting with "so that means that..." or its derivations are appearing quite often.

Why don't we ask the poster what their views are, as opposed to the thread equivalent of putting words in their mouths?

Because the moderators allow people to do this that's basically lying about my views, so now I'm doing it back. I'd welcome it being banned but it's not so quit whining just because the centrists are now doing it instead of only the fascists and Cryptos. :-)
