Any experience of chromebox?

I bought an Acer 14" chromebook last year and am very pleased with it.

Now I am considering replacing (or supplementing) my aging Mac desktop with a chromebox. Does anyone here have experience or knowledge of the chromebox, or chromebase all-in-one PCs? I'd be happy to buy just the chromebox, plus a largish monitor.

A very quick look on the web seems to bring up info and reviews which are a couple of years old. Does this indicate that development of the chromebox has stalled?
