PHOTOS ON MAC ..

Post by landsurfer »

HELP.

I have a number of pics i need to resize in MAC Photos.
For a report on here.
Too big for this site.
All the info i get from asking the question on the Interweb is " Go to tools and resize".

BUT I CAN'T FIND TOOLS IN PHOTOS !!!!!!!

No icon, no pathway .... nothing ....

Help !

Open your photo in Preview.
Go to Tools on the top of your screen. You should have from the left ......... Black Apple, File, Edit, Go, Tools, Window, Help.

Click on Tools and a drop-down menu drops down. Click on Adjust Size (4th one down)

A window opens up over your photograph like this:

As you can see, this photo would be too big, so I would alter the width down a bit and see what size it then is, and try to get it as big as possible but small enough to be accepted.

The file sizes vary with the content. Plain non-detailed photos have smaller file sizes.

I don't have Photos, but two likely-looking suggestions:

  • Apparently you can select Export in Photos; then select 'Custom Size' (you might need to click a little triangle button for this option to show up); then type the size you want. See https://discussions.apple.com/message/28031678#28031678 .
  • Drag and drop the picture out of Photos onto the desktop. Then open it in Preview (either by dragging it onto the Preview app which is in your Applications folder, or by right-clicking and selecting 'Open With' > 'Preview') and follow Mick F's solution from there.

Your photo is in Photos.

Take it out of there. Drag it onto your desktop and do it in Preview.
To open up a photo in Preview, open Preview from your apps folder and double click it.
Then in File, click Open and navigate to your photo that is now on the desktop.

As a matter of interest, I do not like Photos. I think it is a pointless and annoying program.
We have our photographs stored on a separate hard drive and the computers open any of them in Preview.
To do this, single click the photo and do Cmnd/I.
This opens a window, and you can set it to open that file directly in Preview, and it gives the option to open all files like it in Preview.

We never ever ever use Photos. Horrible thing.
If I could delete it, I would, but the operating system won't let me.

If you can drag it out of Photos, and if you have Preview in the Dock at the bottom of your screen, you can drag the image out of Photos and onto the Preview icon and drop it there — only one step and Preview will open with your image on-screen. :D
