Only 8 months?

Post by mercalia »

"Pawel Zietowski was filmed standing up, speeding and rummaging in a bag"

"He told probation officers he had an interest in stunt riding and was "practising" on the motorway"

Glad I cant cycle on the motor ways...

I think a month in clink,a £2,000 fine, and a requirement to resit his driving test after the 28month driving ban would've had a greater effect, and sent out more effective message to idiots thinking of doing the same.

As this was a guilty plea, I don't know why this went to Crown Court. Perhaps he changed his plea after electing to go for trial. The max at magistrates' court is 6 months so perhaps the CPS went for the committal expecting a substantially heavier sentence. It's disproportionately expensive to take a case to the crown court and CPS generally try to avoid it where possible. Also, cases are generally weighed off much sooner at magistrates' court.

Something like four months in the magistrates' court would have been just as effective as eight at crown court, IMO.

Leaving aside sentencing, what's wrong with some people?

An ego bigger than the universe and a large stage to act it out on.

Social media certainly allow people access to a much wider audience than was the case only a few years ago. All the world's a stage with an international auditorium. Why show off to a few mates on a street corner when you can put it on youtube?
