Surely there is a difference between these? A middle-aged man may not show himself to his best visual advantage when wearing tight lycra, and some may suggest that he's indulging in a bit of self-delusion by dressing in a fashion that meets with more general approval when fitted to a younger body, but that scarcely makes him a lout. (Lout = Rough, crude, or ill-mannered — Oxford English Dictionary.)
A MAMIL might (or might not, depending on my mood) make me smile ; a lycra lout is more likely to inspire a frown .

Without any real knowledge, I'd have assumed that lycra lout was straight from the Daily Wail, but that MAMIL was coined by other, slimmer and perhaps younger riders. It's from the same lexicon as "all the gear but no idea." I seem to remember leather-jacket lout from my teens.

Village
Used to mean a small settlement, a few houses, often no shops
Now it means all shops, no houses (Bicester Village for example)

I have never been to Bi-cester ( Win-Chester) pronounced Bister I wondered where the heck it was when I heard on the train next stop Bister lol I have seen the cute olde worlde uniforms on Marylebone Station, I wondered what that is all about. So its a large shopping Mall then like Bluewater near Dartford?

Bonefishblues can tell us all about it, I have never been there, or rather I probably was there when it was all green fields
Many people commute daily from Bi-chester (double-fort?) to London
The train station used to be called 'Bicester Town', it was upgraded to 'Bicester Village', there is a station 'Bicester North' too

Bi-Cester
found this -
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/united-kingdom/england/oxfordshire/articles/bicester-village-day-trip-facts/
seems like there are hotels there for shoppers to stay over night to maximise their shopping opporunity
"The outlet village’s savings, large and small, are of course well documented: a Gucci dress (security pinned to its hanger) down from £7,570 to £3,790"
must get a few of those
ohhhh
"Suave cyclist outfitters Rapha is one of the brands to set up shop at the new end of the street, and is using its Bicester store as a hub for its Oxfordshire branch of the Rapha Cycling Club, allowing members to hire bikes with pre-loaded Sat-Nav routes, meet for a coffee or set off one of its organised group rides."

Bister innit. The thing's a phenomenon. And an interesting business model with a gainshare arrangement between the owners and the retailers. It's a brilliantly executed concept, no matter whether one likes the concept itself.
(And a few smoky mirrors too, v-a-v the stock, some of which you'd swear was made for the village )

It is a queer thing indeed, not much like Lakeside Thurrock or Merry Hill Dudley
Is the word 'village' still current to describe Brill, for example?
