App Using Driver Kills Dog Walker And Flys Abroad

Post by NATURAL ANKLING »

Hi,
Usual sort of guff, did not see dayglo jacket dog walker, stopped after collision but failed to find body in ditch, then flys abroad on business.
Sentence just two years.............hardworking second home owner, charity worker etc, etc.
What does a character ref really mean if you kill because you are not looking.
As per usual just say I did not see them and all is well

Yes I've never understood that about character refs. Everyone has a "good character" until they're caught doing something wrong.

What happened to the dog(s). When he nipped out to see what he had hit, was the dog also thrown 15m away out of sight?

It was believed by the Prosecution, but not established in evidence that an App was actively in use at the time, from my reading the report.

Shocking and so very sad for the family of the lady he killed. A life sentence would have been more appropriate for his callous behaviour after he killed her.

Hi,
IIRC evidence given that a dayglo wearing person would easily of been seen many meters ahead but this is assuming that the driver was doing a meagre 30 mph and not consulting an app.
If you say that you did not see anyone then the lesser charge probably applies and hence the shorter sentence.

As we have seen before in some cases - if you steal / borrow your mates car and have no insurance / licence and are off your head and feel threatened then you just get a slapped hand even when you kill with a vehicle, long time overdue to change the law so that in any case the sentence fits the crime if the perpetrators version of events mean it hinges sentence in their favour.

Dare we contrast this case with the Alliston one?
