The EU wants people to be trilingual, fluent in two foreign languages, +1

Is that realistic? Does a standard brain have room for three languages?

I speak english, and can get by in Greek ..I can discuss with my neighbours things like when they are going to pick their grapes and make wine , how many kilos of olives they harvested this year , and how many glasses of Raki they drank last night ...but sadly I cannot discuss Art , Music , or Politics ....

Was Greek very hard to learn with a different alphabet, can you read it, can you talk about the weather?

Might be best not to talk about politics even if one can

Could be bad news for those living abroad, as one gets older the things (second language!) learnt later might be forgotten first, things learnt as a child remain

At the time of the second Gulf war, George W Bush had little time for the French because they did not support him.

He said, "The French don't even have a word for 'entrepreneur'."

There were plans to offer religious education in Spanish, the Senate argued about whether this were desirable
One senator claimed: 'the bible is in English, if that's good enough for Jesus it is good enough for me' :?

But, as people who voted to leave the EU said, when confronted with the untruths regarding making our own laws, immigration and so on, "so what if it's not true. It's what I believe."

Anyone know the German for Schadenfreude?
And for Schweinhund?*

* that has a different meaning in German, does not translate simply as pig-dog

I've always understood that the Dutch generally speak up to six languages.
Or is that another untruth?

Since retiring I've mostly reverted to just my one: English.

Not having any workmates I seem to have dropped Bad.
