Anyone watching... ( a Telly program )

Post by reohn2 »

...The A word?
One of the most insightful dramas I've watched in recent years, and whilst the entire cast are an acting master class,Christopher Eccleston is superbe.
Highly recommended :)

I recall him as Derek Bentley, getting hanged for all the wrong reasons...

Anyway, to answer R2, no I haven't but with this encouraging heads-up I might have a look via catch-up. Funny, isn't it, how people without TV licences lose no time proclaiming the fact to all and sundry, whereas those with one (such as us) just leave it be, as a 'given'.

Incidentally Detectorists seems to be on BBC4, as you've probably deduced, Sherlock-wise, by now....

I don't think you'll be disappointed, the acting is superbe and the story line very relevant in kinds of senses.

Funny you should mention that......

Detectorists another big fan, I have watched it from the very beginning, initially because its filmed round here, we Met Mackenzie Crook in small café whilst he was filming series 1, So watched it at first out of curiosity, but just grew to love the series. They were advertising for extras for this series, Daughter had a university open day the same day so wasn't able to do it.

Detectorists is a lovely program. For anyone who likes the music and plays guitar this youtube video is good viewing to get tips and pointers. Something enjoyable to pass the time, the johnny flynn theme is part of the pleasure of the show( he made a guest appearance in last series ).

The "A" word. I rarely watch television but knowing someone with an autistic child and having yesterday had this programme brought to my attention, I watched last nights episode. It appeared to me to be a modern day version of "Sons and Lovers" with the autistic child and interaction with said child being a very minor part of the programme.
There is your way. There is my way. But there is no "the way".

You couldn't be more wrong IMO.
Its a drama to introduce people who wouldn't normally have contact with Autistic people, especially Autistic children, also others with disabilities, and how such problems affect their families and others around them.
The show(for that's what it is)has to have an interesting storyline to keep people watching, whilst it illustrates the main theme.
