They could ban him "permanent suspension" (that is provided for by Facebook Rules) as are things like temporary suspension (for a specified period rather than indefinite), deleting offending posts. The issue is about "indefinite suspensions" which don't exist meaning Facebook have applied something other than their rules.

They could change their rules to include "indefinite suspensions" but all that sort of stuff is the responsibility of Facebook rather than the Oversight Board who were "ruling" (or rather not ruling) today.

So I believe a 50 year suspension would comply with Facebook's current rules and that would allow the Oversight Board to then make a decision about upholding or quashing that punishment.

Actually, thinking a bit more about it, Donald Jr could still be alive 50 years hence, albeit in his 90s. And he might have taken over Daddy's account. Also there's the fragrant Ivanka and the egregious Jared.... Better make it 100 years to be sure.

Unless ... is there a slight risk that Donald Sr might have invented the elixir of life by then, hence making himself immortal?  After all, he's already claimed to have invented the Covid vaccines, has he not? :?

I am reading Sean Yates's autobiography.
He writes about riding the Tour DuPont in 1993, "which had taken the place of the Tour de Trump, after Donald Trump's empire had crumbled."

Trump is like those horror film monsters that keep coming back when you think they have been finished off.

He has escaped impeachement but has plenty of court cases on the way.
Lawsuits and investigations have hung over Donald Trump throughout his business career, then his presidency.

He’s reportedly faced an estimated 4,000 cases, plus two (unsuccessful) impeachments, two (successful) divorces, six bankruptcies, and 26 sexual misconduct allegations. Things are only going to get worse now that he’s a private citizen again, without the backing of the Justice Department.

No former president has ever been indicted for criminal conduct, and presidents are argued to have immunity from prosecution while in office, but things have changed.
He now faces more than a dozen high-profile lawsuits and investigations. A recent Washington Post analysis put the total number at 29 pending cases.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/worl ... 16184.html

Perhaps the stake will be driven through his heart soon.

The Al Capone effect:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... SApp_Other

The Trump lot are, of course, claiming it is politically motivated. Perhaps it is. But if the activity were criminal that is surely irrelevant. By that token, no republican can be charged with anything by a Democratic government and vice versa.

Trump suggested shipping American Covid sufferers to Guantanamo camp.
He previously wanted to send illegal migrants there, designating them as enemy combatants.

Morning all, I think the title of the topic should be changed, because really it is not a question of "Is Trump Mad?", but definitely "How Mad Is Trump?".   MM

Mad or not, he seems to be immune from prosecution. Let's hope that changes.

Giuliani disbarred:
http://www.nycourts.gov/courts/ad1/cale ... )%20PC.pdf

"Before Judge Brann in the Boockvar case, respondent himself stated: “I don’t know what’s more serious than being denied your right to vote in a democracy.” We agree. It is the very reason why espousing false factual information to large segments of the public as a means of discrediting the rights of legitimate voters is so immediately harmful to it and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law."

Thank-goodness! That melty old trouser diver is a disgrace! What's a puzzle is to figure a) did he believe all that rubbidge he was spouting - or b) did he know it was fantastic but thought he could get away with it, or c) neither of the above and he just tried it on 'cos he doesn't care anymore? Who knows?! But well Done, Sacha BC and crew, for catching him out like that !!

I wonder (maybe it's hope) that this will have a wider long term impact. From what I read Trump has all but abandoned Giuliani and, despite his [Giuliani's] unbelievable public support of Trump's ludicrous lies, long term impact for Giuliani is end of legal career and at best a book deal in what is looking like a massively saturated market.

So long term, if you were a high power legal expert, irrespective of your political views would you take Trump's future arguments .. (with similar risks to your career and of being abandoned)? Maybe Trump might be a bit more limited with finding good legal teams?

"Mad" or whatever: the official* assessment of Mr T in the prezzy rankings is now out. And it places the said Mr T fourth from bottom in the list of best-to-worst presidents.

Why not at the absolute bottom I don't know. The ones below him were all in office around the time of the Civil war (Abe Lincoln comes top of the ratings btw). Maybe future historians will judge Mr T more harshly, once he's dead and buried...

*'Official'? Well, seems pretty authoritative at least - put together by a panel of distinguished historians, whenever there's a change in the WH. Anyone know of any others?

Action is brewing between the bloke's company and Manhattan's DA, re tax matters. If things go well, the weird orange golf-cheat might be in trouble... here's hoping!!

I thought that the thread reawakening might be news of the charges...

... the similarities to Andrew Jackson became commonplace.

And I think that I've seen Reagan ranked higher than that...
