Amazing attempt to sell derelict bike

Post by Malky 1422 »

Surely this has to be some sort of a joke. I would charge this seller £50 to collect it and take it to the tip.

Also the photo has an 'alarmy' mark, so he must've just copied it.

seems these people are real then?

lookat his write up

"A very rare and complete bike.
Very hard to find in this condition with all the accessories as per pictures
It comes with Sturmey Archer 3 speed
Front and rear dynamo lights
Original Raleigh Speedometer
Brooks saddle
Reynolds 531 tubing.
I have paid a lot of money for this bike to add to my collection, however I have now found something else I would like to buy so this has to go."

I bet it was the previous derelect?

is this for real? are these bikes worth what the fantasist(s) seems to think they are? I must be missing some thing

Maybe they are trying to confuse us, there was a thread here recently about oscillating prices, Cunobelin described how a book was offered for a few million cos the algorithms calculated n+1..

Maybe they are just the wrong pictures, before instead of after restoration

Chaps,

What we are all seeming to forget is that beauty and indeed value is in the eye of the beholder. Although I cannot for the life of me think why somebody would pay £750 for a rusty obviously completely cream crackered 1949 Raleigh, I can see the possible artistic merit of doing so. After all individuals and corporations have been known to pay many of hundreds of millions of pounds on paintings, that to my admittedly untrained eye seem to resemble the daubs on the wall of the reception class in my local primary school.
Just remember, when you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.
