Winter Olympics Any One Watching.

Post by NATURAL ANKLING »

Hi,
Saw the pairs skating dancing routine not seen any better for the winners.

Skeleton luge etc, nail-biting hitting the fourth round.

Loving every minute. On pancake day, I even flipped one through 540 degrees in the frying pan inspired by the snowboarding.

I find the ice dancing boring (men, woman or pairs) but really enjoy the curling.
Short track racing is brutal but thrilling to watch.
Tend to only watch anything with a GB interest.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

I sort of half watch the ice dancing but find the technical skill awesome when I do,the matching of dance to the music a bit hit and miss with some routines.
Luge,Skeleton,Snowboarding and downhill sking of all disciplines, race and freestyle have been amazing.speed skating is always good too.
Yep,been enjoying it :)

Loving the snowboarding a great spectacle and exciting races.
How do they decide which foot they have forward? I.e. which way they face is it the start position draw or their preference?
Reminds me of greyhound racing I keep thinking drawn 6 should be in B&W stripes.

I haven't bothered with the skating, either figure or dancing. Was thrilled for the skeleton ladies yesterday, can't imagine the bravery involved. Thought that the bronze in the Slope Style was good, but just looking at it, it's clear that the sport's very much in its infancy. Elise Christie has been unlucky, perhaps, but I have to confess to being rather annoyed by her, and I think she's being crushed by the attention. Curling's totally compelling - it's like chess where you have the ability to tip the board over halfway!

Totally glued here too.
I must admit I prefer the competitive elements rather than the artistic ones.
Can I suggest that Elise Christie moves up to long track, where there's very little chance of crashing into the only other skater.
The curling is a really fascinating games of wits and precision.
And oh how I admire those ski-jumpers.

The downhill events seem far too dangerous, 120 kmh on a teatray?
Norway is leading now, Germany is only second
Germany won the figure skating, neither skater was born in Germany, the French German had trouble passing the language test for German citizenship, he gives interviews in English but who cares, he can be French AND German

Hi,
The down hill head first stuff reminds my of my reckless youth :)
I like all the fast stuff, Old story, me and my mate made pram wheeled wooden go carts, no brakes and abandoned the string when we realised you could lay on the plank and steer with your hands on the front axel :?
Gone are the problems that Redbull compeditors suffer from with poor GOG, aero for sure and a hill of over 500 feet per mile means that I have no idea what speed we hit (pavement), but I recently hit 45mph on my tourer on same hill
If you saw the road and hill you would wonder how we did it, we never feel off, which was more luck than skill.

Anyway, you can trust me to mess up I should of said figure not dance
As said the ice and even ballet come opera stuff never quite connects seamlessly.
But this is the best I have seen as someone who does not watch much, worth watching, just try and find the flaws? Size mismatch helps a lot, fitness strength skill on ice! Tell me this is rubbish..... Cristopher Dean choreographed, in comparison Dancing on ice series is rigged and he is judge.

The lad its fascinated by Tue skiing. The one with moguls and two kickers had him transfixed. Only 5 years so his mum made us turn it off because too much screen time... and all that. Thank goodness his grandparents had him at half term and don't bother with modern parenting styles!

I basically love anything that involves skiing or snowboarding fast while doing tricks and jumps. I mean how do those skiers cope with the forces on their knees through the moguls? Their upper bodies barely move but the knees take the full force like shock absorbers. Amazing technique!

BTW you can forget about the rest of the events, they're boring. Although I can appreciate the biathlon skiing/shooting events. Have you ever tried to drop your pulse quickly? These guys have to go from high exertion to calm with slow pulse to take the shots. Among the fittest ppl around those guys. Huge VO2 max readings with them. The highest recorded figures come mostly from that sport I believe.

Guys AND gals!
Laura Dahlmeier of Germany has won more medals than you can shake a stick at, likewise the Norwegians, most of them named Ragnhild, +1

Seems to me many of the fast events are far too dangerous, anyone disagree?
And quite a lot of trees were removed to make space for the games, the idea is to make snow sport more popular in Korea and elsewhere
It's the economy, stupid :?

Hi,
Haven't Germany won 60% of all medals in winter Olympics in the last 40 years, or is that golds?
