Dunno what browser you're on, but if running Firefox (like us) or Chrome or IE, you just hover the mouse over the link and it'll tell you it where it goes (in my case, Youtube). I reckon that's fairly 'safe'...

It does bother me a bit if I see a link pointing to "bit.ly" or some other anonymising/url-shortening site. I try to avoid those like the plague...
