I'm on the mailing list for Cycle Oregon* they organise a 400+ mil, 7 day ride, in quite mountainous terrain every September. A few years ago someone did the whole ride (&, I believe served coffee at intervals) on such a bike.

(*We visited relatives of Mrs H's who lived near where CO are based & I thought the ride sounded interesting - but will probably never do it.)

Booker Prize Judge might suit me, I love reading
Afua Hirsch in the Grauniad reports that she read 151 books in six months
Dunno how much one might remember, I prefer to read familiar books slowly, but she was forced to read books she had not chosen, learned a lot, Plus One!

If one can lip read one might get a job watching football managers, see what advice they are whispering to their lads
Helps if one can lipread Spanish, German etc too, mind

Balgentreter, bellows treader

Went to a talk about a novel about Johann Sebastian Bach, he played the organ but he had to employ someone to tread the bellows (Balgentreter)
Kathrein, the beautiful daughter of the chief organist, volunteered
'Treading the bellows is quite like cycling, but very tiring', she bleated
The action was in 1705, not sure how much of the story was invented
